Course Reflection

Course Reflection

At the beginning of my studying at ADMC, I have learned many things from the academic communication courses. For example, I'm now able to write a professional report without including any plagiarism. However, in this semester I took the professional communication course which is LSEC N307. This course was my first step to look for a job opportunity.

On the first months of the course, I have learned how to make my own C.V. for applying to a job. In addition, I have also made an interview with my classmates. This interview was unlike the regular interviews because two of the students plus the teacher interviewed me as well as I interview the other students. In the middle of our semester, we have created our own group and took the chance to prepare a meeting which it will help me later in the future. Our last task in this course was making a report that is related to how the security is involved in the Information Technology. The presentation I've with my group made was outstanding because each group member prepared what he need for his section in the presentation.

Of course I have faced several difficulties in the starting of this course. For instance, the C.V. should be well organized in which the name should be the title following by the personal information which should come first moving by the qualifications and experiences. Moreover, the report was very stressful because we wasn’t sure if it includes any plagiarism.

By the help from my teacher Mr. Gregory, I'm now ready to apply to any job without making mistakes. Furthermore, he helped me on how to organize the C.V. in a professional way. Not just only organizing but also by giving feedback's on every task I do so I can correct any mistake I do.

INTRODUCTION:

Information security is playing an important part in most of the companies at the moment. For example, you can't do your online transactions without using security methods such as SSL (Secure Socket Layer). However, without security your data would be spread out to anonymous people. These people can exploit your data to use it for their own goods. For instance, they would be to use your information in illegal way to login to your bank account. In this project, we are presenting the Wi-Fi security. The purpose of this project is to illustrate how the security is involved in the Wi-Fi. For starters, Wi-Fi is a shortcut for the name "Wireless Fidelity" which means it uses the radio waves to connect to the internet on a high speed connection. Wireless is now used in many devices that we are using it in our life such as video games consoles (PS3, Xbox, Nintendo Wii), laptops, personal computers (PC's), PDA's that are using Palm OS and new generation of smart phones such as Nokia, Android phones and I Phone. As for the PC's, you can connect to the internet without a wire by using Wireless adapters (ALFA & Genius wireless adapters are good examples). Back to 1991, the wireless was first named as the WaveLAN (Wave Local Area Network). NCR and AT&T Corporations were was first inventors of 802.11 technologies. First, we will start to discuss how the Wi-Fi was first discovered by these to corporations. After that, we are going to talk about the evolution of the Wi-Fi security and how most of the companies are now demanding the security of their wireless networks. Finally, we will look for solutions to minimize the risks of the intruders in the Wi-Fi field and to look for some solution for lowering the Wi-Fi devices prices.

CONCLUSION:
All in all, we know now the first step for implementing the wireless network is by understanding the threats or the attack on the Wi-Fi network. One of these threats is known as DoS (Denial of Service attack). Even thought that users have the ability to access the internet and share their files and folders from home, college or café they are still in risk of being attacked by these intruders. We are now able to limit the impact of these attacks by using several security standards which we can combines three-party authentication with tunnels in the network. Moreover, securing opened wireless ports is very important to reduce the risk of hacking. We recommend you to keep your network safe and secured from intruders.

Meeting Reflection

Meeting Reflection

Our meeting was held on the 31th of October 2012 at ADMC. The meeting started at 2:40 PM and finished at 3:00 PM. We supposed to start at 2:30 but one of group member joined the meeting lately. Our group including 4 students. Ahmad Al Suwaidi was the chair or the leader of the group, Faisal Al Hosani and Khamis were the participants and I was the minute's taker. Our topic was about Emiratization (finding jobs for students).

As mentioned above, Ahmad introduced the topic about the Emiratization. To start this meeting, we looked first at the reasons or the problems of why students can't find jobs when they graduate from college or high school. Faisal started the discussion by the first issue which is some companies want students with high certification such as Bachelor or above. The second issue is that some student's don't want to continue studying, especially those whom left the middle school and saying "I will find a job". Khamis discussed the third issue where students drop from the college when they join a program that doesn’t fit with their experience. For example, a student join engineering program while he/she don't know math. We looked for some solutions to reduce this issue. The most important point is that universities and colleges should make more orientations to encourage the students to look for a job rather than waiting for the job to come to them.

To sum up, getting a job is not as easy as it was been years ago. I recommend that student's should take an opportunity when they receive a job invitation.
